Over the past two years, Hudson Creative has partnered with PepsiCo and Figure 8 to amplify Black-owned businesses through a program known as Black Restaurants Deliver, a part of the Pepsi Dig In initiative. Our commitment to “Dig In” with Pepsi is a promise to leverage our digital marketing expertise to help Black-owned restaurants and share their delicious food, rich history, and culture with more people.
August is ‘Black Business Month,’ so we wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the program highlights and incredible businesses we’ve worked with over the past two years.
What is the BRD program?
Through the Pepsi Black Restaurants Deliver Program (known as ‘BRD’), Hudson Creative provides Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services to enhance each restaurant’s digital presence. We do this by focusing on high-impact tactics, like selecting the right keywords, optimizing their website for search engines, and establishing an online presence.
We conduct research and help facilitate the choice of 15-20 keywords for each restaurant. These keywords are popular words and phrases that guests will type into search engines (like Google or Bing) when they are searching for their next meal.
After selecting the right keywords, we optimize their website for search engines. We identify their web and business goals, develop keyword-rich copywriting to be featured on their website, design and build a location page for search engines to crawl, and set up Google Analytics to track website performance and conversions.
Lastly, we optimize and set up dozens of online directory listings, such as Google, Facebook, and Yelp, making sure key business information is consistent and accurate across all these listing networks. This allows the business to increase its digital footprint and the amount of “Internet Real Estate” they take up online.
The end result is that each restaurant and its locations show up more often in local Google and Bing search results. This attracts more people to see and engage with the restaurant online.
BRD Program Highlights
Over the last two years, we’ve been able to:
- Work with 106 Black-owned Restaurant locations
- Set up and/or optimized 954+ Primary Listings
- Researched 10,600 keywords, choosing 2,120 targeted keywords
BRD Alumni Feedback
“Last week we saw an online catering order for Ruby’s from the New York Mets. They placed the order directly from the website without talking to anyone in the office…They left a note asking for delivery to the local stadium they were playing at. When we asked how they heard about us, they said they “googled fried chicken and southern food, and each time our name popped up in the search!” The fact that we were less than 10 min away from the stadium was a plus so they booked us and it went great from there. I said all that to say thank you! The program works! SEO & the spider keyword thingy Mollie talked about works and that order was proof of it! Thank you so much!” – Candi Dailey, Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen
“I wanted to send you guys a quick note to say thank you. Today’s call really hit home. The changes suggested for my website made so much sense. The manner in which the material was explained was spot on. The pitch was one of the best presentations I have sat through in a good little while. It was so relevant to my goals and concerns. What I appreciated the most was the fact you guys delivered the material in a way that I totally understood and it connected internally to how I feel when on a site browsing. Thanks again for everything!” – George Loving, SmokeDatt Barbecue
